With summer coming up and the nicer weather I have been wanting to go hiking more with my brother in law. He goes almost every weekend rain or shine, but I'm more of a fair weather outdoorist (probably not a word). I thought that I would just hop right back into hiking after not going since last summer, then I walked to work. My cardio has failed me. I felt like dying and it was only a half hour walk. With that thought brought me to remember that before I moved to Vancouver my brother was training for a 5k and I gone with him on some of his runs and he was using an app to get him ready. I got the app. Couch Potato to 5k. I have done a couple days on it and I have survived, but I am definitely not where I used to be. I have always wanted to do a colour run, but have always said no because of an injury back when I was 14. I used to run track and run all the time until I got hurt. That was 11 years ago. Since then I have learned how to get my leg back into shape and work with it. I think it may be time to stop saying no and go out and sign up! Now with this app and starting to train I really want to go. I think it will help not only with keeping me in shape, but maybe be able to keep up a little more with my brother in law on the trails. Probably not since he is over 6' and I'm only 4'11''. Still I don't want to feel like I'm falling behind and he has to wait for me.
This is my goal for the summer! To get my cardio back to where it was or better and get back into shape. I set the bar a little to high with my goal before and with being so sick the last month (thanks strep throat) I have fallen behind in where I thought I would be. It is a little discouraging, but I know how much better I feel when I am working out and taking care of myself that I believe I can do it!
If anyone wants to join me in a run let me know!! Or has any tips to keep motivated!
